Have done:
4 assessed shifts- they thought I was cool… paticularly liked the baking. The shifts weren’t so busy, a few car chases after boy racers, a few domestics, lots of bail checks, a few drunk driving stops, lots of disqualified drivers, a prostitute, a few druggies. Really nice guys in Group One.
Personality test – I have one… very balanced mostly… except am highly suspicious of people…not such a bad thing for a cop
Treaty of waitangi test- was very very easy… took me about 5 minutes.. apparently was suppose to take about 30 min… prompted the recruiting officer to say that I was too smart for the cops…. they other officer in the room went to nosy the results and raised her eyebrow.. should make promotions a bit easier hopefully
To go:
Medical
Eye exam (have been playing up a bit… mind you have always wanted glasses to look smarter)
PCT (confidence type course)
International clearance (just to say I wasn’t in jail while I was overseas)
Looking like a Jan/Feb start at training college… so just have to pass the physical tests again and that should be it… crossed fingers.
Also 1 more week of lectures and just a psycology exam to go for uni… but rest of the assessments went good.
Bring on summer! yay!

The test went well I think. Won’t know my IQ results till Wednesday.. was a bit rusty on the maths but everything else went smoothly.. passed the physical… 11.36 run, 46 cm jump, 31 pressups and a 86kg grip. Yay.
In other news my essay is still not done.. but going to Indie tonight.. if that’s not incentive I don’t know what is. Also am a bit peckish.. perhaps a snack pre-essay would be in order.

First things first… I have a fantastic new term… Swamp donkey… it’s used for a particularly unattractive person. I just liked it.
So anyway…
It’s fascinating how fast a season can go pear-shaped. Where to start… actually I’ve had a pretty cool time… it’s everyone else that has been struck by bad luck. The owner has come and gone a bit so we’ve had some days off. It’s been super cool because Cooky has been in town and I’ve got to catch up with him. He had his 30th Birthday last week so we hired a convertible and went for a fantastic drive down the French Grand Canyon… it was absolutey spectacular scenery.. unfortunately it was raining and freezing cold…. didn’t stop us driving with the top down. And even with the heaters on full we both had to stop and buy woolie tops. Got quite a few stares that day but was amazing.
Meanwhile the Chef went out for a romantic evening with her boyfriend on the tender and for some privacy they turned the light off. So of course other boats couldn’t see them… this isn’t so cool when you have a speedboat hit you at 25knots. They were very lucky to live. jimmy was thrown clear about 10 m and Joni got trapped on the floor of the tender. She only broke her arm in 3 places and needed 2 operations on it. Just so lucky. So I’ve been cooking for the crew and the guests. Then the captian scraped the bottom of the boat and bent the props… then I fell down the stairs.. it wasn’t serious.. I was hoping that it was the 3rd thing… but no the next morning my lovely Kiwi deckie.. Jono went waterskiing and pulled all the ligaments in his foot. So he’s in a cast for 5 weeks and has gone back to Palma. So in short it’s been fun.
But france is cool.. the food and wine are spectacular…the weather is great but getting colder.
Hope everyone is cool.
Lots of Love

how fast is time going these days?
anyway…Valencia
Yep.. was very cool. Had about 10 days there. I was staying at an apartment at the end of the beach.. about 7km cycle from the port.. nice way to start and end the day… worked from 8 till 8… I think the crew appreciated the days off that they got. I just couldn’t believe how busy the whole village was.. just amazing.. even on the non race days there were just thousands of people wandering around.. and the facilities in Valencia are so impressive. Had some great meals out.. made new friends. Met the Nanny that Tara at montana had told me about before I left.. you know… “if you see he say hi styles”… weirded her out entirely. Overall was mostly work except for the last couple of days..second to last day my call at 330 was “lets have an early one tonight because we’ve got Joe Cocker tomorrow”…. And that was a huge night starting with the concert and moving through to a nightclub with the crew till 0630… much fun.
Jersey
From there I had one nght back in Palma before heading off to Jersey to see family. Stayed with Mum’s cousin Cherry in their fantastic house on a wild beach front. The weather was on the whole good… much better than predicted.. but chilly…though am now a complete sook. Had a brilliant tour with Michael.. Cherry’s husband.. saw most of the island, german fortifications, amazing views over to France. Went to the underground hospital tunnels which was excellent.. recently redone. I found it so interesting to see what people went through, it seems so removed from real life studying it out of social studies books at school. Also amazed me about the amount of energy that went into making weapons.. killing people. Not so much in Jersey but just the effect that it had on such a small island.. then multiplied over the entire war effort…humans… I just don’t get it.
Went out for a day with Chris in the Inflateable… was rough and got soaked but I think suitably impressed him as was invited out for a few drinks with the lads that night…. didn’t think I could drink….(headshake).. and sure he’s about 6′4 and solid… still it wasn’t really a competition.
Went also to the Durrell Zoo which was brilliant… normally I hate zoos as it makes me sad, however the work that they do to help species is excellent and the enclosures were so well designed. Had a great time.
Then for the final evening.. went to see Fiddler on the Roof. It was so well done.. it’s been so long since I saw live theatre.. was great. One poignant quote from it was ” if we took an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth… the whole world would be blind and toothless”.
Loughborough
Headed back to Loughborough after watching the rugby in Jersey.. was called mad by some welshmen… thought it was a little harsh.. I knew we’d come back at the end.. they didn”t think we would… bet they just didn’t like being wrong.
It was wet in Loughborough.. Actually that’s a bit of an understatement… we were about 20 minutes down the road from all the flooding.. I had driven through most of those places last week when we went to Lincoln for the day. Seemed completely unreal. It’s so nice to go see Di and John.. like I have some family close by…and they look after me brilliantly. I spent most of the time infront of the TV.. Sailing at lunchtime, Wimbeldon and glastonbury…which was brilliant.. got to see their son performing… brilliant.. check them out.. band name ‘Mr Hudson and the Library’.
Back to Palma
So am home now. got in very late last night. Was a vey interesting flight home.. 3 Hen parties and 2 stag parties all off to Magaluf. Was sandwiched between them. They were already drinking.. soccer hoon style…was amusing for the first few minutes but after 2.5 hours was over it a bit. Captain had to threaten pulling them off the flight. Nice to be home.
